She’s in constant battle to bury her horrid past and feel whole again, when she meets the strikingly handsome English lawyer, Stephen McGilveroy. She’s instantly drawn to him but is unsure if she’s ready for a relationship or if she can trust him.

Stephen McGilvery is stubborn, confident and comes from an aristocratic English family. His future has been set since he was a child, but he struggles with his family obligations. When he meets Kate, his attraction is evident, but he’s confused between his desire to be with Kate and his future responsibilities. Will his stubborn pride drive Kate away from him? Will either of them follow the path laid out for them?

In this contemporary romance novel, after fate brings two lonely souls together from vastly different backgrounds, they each discover that anything worth keeping for a lifetime is worth fighting for until the end.

“I’m not a romantic novel person. I love my fiction, crime, drama and thriller novels. I have only ever read two other romance novels and I enjoyed them. But this was amazing! I was very pleased with the entire novel! No regrets with this purchase!”

Book Review

C.F. Corbett is an incredible, well-accomplished writer; her words engrossed me and intrigued me from page one. I was so invested in this novel, and this is all down to the beautiful characters she features in her book as well as her compelling plot.

Corbett’s writing is descriptive, and I adored this. I loved long sentences which send my mind into overdrive and Corbett most certainly does this!

She perfectly made me envision her characters as well as her setting; this is important to me, so I admire Corbett for the time and consideration she put into her novel!

To summarize my thoughts on this exceptional romance that will take you on a beautiful, as well as a somewhat scary journey, I would say if you are looking for a lovely novel that will sweep you away then this excellent book is for you.

Writing a novel has been something I’ve always wanted to do. But I had no idea where to start or what to write.

To be honest, Oceans Apart was created from something else I was writing—short humorous stories based on my embarrassing moments, as I have many, such as getting on a bus wearing only my black slip—my black pleated skirt was missing in action, or having my hose slide down my legs and rest around my ankles, or my cheeks turning fifty shades of red on a regular basis.

But when I read one of the stories, I was struck with the idea that this could be an awesome start to a romance novel.

So, I swallowed my fear, laid out a plan, and began to write.

I wrote non-stop for months.

I didn’t want to stop to eat or sleep. All I could think of was the book—developing the plot, characters, and climax.

I wrote about places I knew, Calgary and Lake Louise in Alberta, England, as it was easier to write about locations I’d seen and experienced.

The overall experience of writing from your heart was one of the most driven events of my life. I’d never felt so fixated on anything as much as I did when I wrote this novel. The flow of words, the scenes, were so vivid that I didn’t want the writing to end.

The editing was a learning experience that made me look deeper into the characters and their journey.

Overall, it was a five-year labor of love that I’m so excited to share with you.
