Are You Impatient?

I don’t know about you, but I easily lose patience when I’m waiting in line to pay for groceries, at the bank, or getting my favourite latte, especially, if the people in front of me are chatting and I’m in a hurry.

I recall a few weeks ago, waiting up to twenty minutes for a bank teller. I began to roll my eyes, exhale loudly to show my displeasure, which made no difference to the situation. Which is minor in comparison to waiting on important news like hearing back from a job interview, laboratory results, approval for a mortgage, or acceptance to a University or College.

The wait can rattle your nerves. You begin to focus on distractions to avoid wondering the outcome, as decisions on next steps depend on the response. It can make you anxious, frustrated, conjure up false scenarios where instead of moving forward you move in the wrong direction, as you want the answer now.

I address this topic as ‘impatience breeds dissatisfaction’, which can lead to regrettable actions.

There is always an underlying reason why you may be impatient. A few to mention, you’re no longer in control, or you’re fearful of remaining stuck in a situation you don’t want to be in.

The real question to ask...are you anticipating the proper expectation? As it’s the expectation, when connected to unworthiness, lack of faith, or doubt, that holds you back.

As a reformed new ager turned Christian, I recall numerous times I lost patience in waiting for the universe to reveal open doors of opportunities to lead me to financial abundance.

My request never bore fruit, as my intentions were based on selfish design for financial freedom. In truth, I had false expectations. I was desperate for results and my patience was at its limit.

Since then, I’ve learned God wants us to be responsible for our actions. Moreover, He wants your patience. To have a heart of expectancy of how He moves in your life. To be in a state of grateful stillness with a heart of peace, acceptance, in knowing God is working out the details to prepare you to activate the abundance He has planned for you.

He knows you inside and out—your hidden idiosyncrasies.

He wants to pluck out the blocks preventing you from living the purpose He designed for you.

The key is patience, and to not...

Lose His heavenly purpose.

Let distractions lead you astray.

Act when you’re not ready; or,

Lose hope.

Patience allows your heart to be open to receive God’s full blessing. It’s the main ingredient, but it’s also the hardest thing to do, especially, when you’re desperate and stretched to the limit. This is the critical point, like a climax of a novel, where you walk through the storm with the awareness Jesus is riding the storm with you.

Deuteronomy 31:8

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

To be fulfilled with God’s plan for you is to trust the process. Allow it to unfold with a delightful expectancy as He reveals Himself to you.

And He will.

To be fulfilled with patience takes a leap of faith, believing and trusting wholeheartedly that Jesus and His Father, only desire is for you to experience your true self.

You’re blessed with skills and capabilities you may not even be aware of. I think of our Pastor, who is an Anointed Teacher, when he began to preach, his sermons were twenty minutes, now they’re an hour. And he’s an introvert. But, when he teaches the word of God, he’s on fire. This blog is based on his sermon on April 14, 2024, on being patient and allowing God to move you.

Consider Mary, the Mother of Jesus. How blessed she was with being patient. She accepted God’s will that placed her in a precarious situation. She had to practice patience until God unfolded the plan for her—trust Joseph, who she was pledged to wed, accept her delicate situation and not expose her to public disgrace. Have patience as they travelled when she was nine months pregnant, trusting they’d find a place where she could safely deliver her child.

Did she ever get plagued with the ‘what ifs’ that can fill our hearts with doubt. No. She had absolute trust and faith in God that everything would work out according to His perfect plan.

God has a perfect plan for you.

In times when you’re being tested, you may question His motives, especially if things don’t end up the way you perceive them. This is when, like Mary, you need to trust the process, as if you jump off too soon, the perfect scenario God planned for you, will be much harder to reach.

Patience is showing God, you love and trust Him. You’ll follow without doubt, or fear. Embrace His gift of peace and wait, as you know the outcome will bring you to a place of joy.

Romans 8:18

The pain that you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming.

The process isn’t easy. However, if it was, what would you learn. What changes would you experience?

It’s in the falling down and getting back up that God loves to show how strong you can be. He loves nurturing the beauty of changing the darkness in your heart to one filled with the light of His Son, Jesus.

All in all, it’s allowing yourself to be in a state of holiness, as waiting is holy. It’s like a canvass, adding brush strokes, color, and texture. Each brush stroke meticulously applied in perfect design. It’s the hand of God, creating a masterpiece of your soul.

The question to ask, are you ready to allow God to transform you into the masterpiece He envisions.

If yes, be patient with an open heart, filled with His peace, and trust Him to do the work He is patiently waiting to perform.

God Bless,

Blog-Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
