Do You Believe in Spirits
There are numerous books about hauntings and encounters. I’ve had a few of my own experiences.
We moved into a house that at the time was close to a hundred years old. It was built in 1912. One evening, I was sitting on a couch in the living room watching TV, when I heard loud footsteps across the hallway on the second level above me. I shrugged it off, thinking it was my son or husband. However, when I asked them, they said they weren’t upstairs. I didn’t think anything of it, until my son mentioned hearing the footsteps as well. It lasted for a few months then stopped.
When I travelled to England, I stayed in a 2000-year-old mansion. I had a corner room on the second level that overlooked the gardens. I was writing in my journal, then paused for a moment, as I heard a whistling sound rustling the leaves of the surrounding trees from the open window in front of me. Then a sound of a man deeply inhaling and exhaling infiltrated the room. As I peeked out the window, there was no one there.
A friend worked nights in a large facility and many times heard doors opening and closing, lights turned on and off. On one occasion the paperwork on his desk was thrown to the floor.
A worker at a daycare left a group of children for a few minutes. When she returned the children spoke of an elderly woman who read them a story. There were no elderly women on staff. And only parents, unless otherwise authorized, were permitted in the daycare.
There is no denying that spirits exist. Why they’re here, no one knows. But what do you do with an encounter that scares you and your children. Do you seek a medium? Psychic? Paranormal experts? Hold a seance to communicate with the spirit?
How do you protect yourself from an entity you can’t see?
As a former new ager, one of the solutions is a black tourmaline rock believed to absorb negative energy. The next step is to bless the house with sage asking the negative entities to leave. The likelihood of this working is minimal. When I used a black tourmaline rock, I believed it protected me from negative energy. Many nights, I held a small one in the palm of my hand or placed it under my pillow. I believed it worked and felt safe. However, it only opened a door to more negative energy without me knowing, (my testimony).
For Christians, encounters with spirits can be extremely unpleasant. I’ve heard stories of sleep paralysis, where believers feel they’re crushed by a heavy weight and can’t move. At times, they’re attacked in their dreams. There is also the rushing sound of the Holy Spirit which can be mistaken as a negative encounter.
Acts 2:2
“And then suddenly there came from Heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind”.
If heard, it’s a confirmation you’re not alone, Christ Jesus is with you.
The spiritual realm can scare you or the encounter may be calm. However, in both scenarios I’m sure you want a way to eliminate the problem.
The solution is prayer. To renounce the spirit in the blood of Jesus. Ask Jesus to cleanse your house with His blood and invite people to pray over each room. Jesus’s blood protects you against spirits, as Jesus has authority over them. It’s in His blood you’re cleansed, and a shield of protection against dark spirits.
Dear Lord,
In the blood of Jesus, I pray for your grace to protect me when I feel threatened by dark spirits and against schemes of Satan. Cover me from head to toe in your blood to calm my anxious nerves and fears. In your blood I renounce all spirits in my house and command them to leave. In your holiest of names, I pray.

If the disturbance continues, invite a Pastor or Priest to pray over your home and in each room. Most of all, have faith in Jesus, as He will help you.
