What Does it Mean to be Born by the Holy Spirit
John 3:6-8
Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit is a gift from God and is a part of Him placed inside of you as a guide. Born from the death and resurrection of His Son, Christ Jesus. He speaks to you in subtle ways and is comparable to the wind, as you don’t know when He will speak.
The intention is to have an open heart and mind to allow the Holy Spirit to communicate with you, as God’s plan is not to leave you alone in your spiritual journey. As a believer, bound to Jesus Christ, you are faced with obstacles, and temptations that can cause you to lose your faith.
Many lose faith from the hardships of life and don’t feel God is providing for them. Others, from loss of loved ones, or becoming successful where you feel you no longer need God.
You drift away. Turn the other cheek. In this state, the Holy Spirit is still with you but buried under your resistance. This leads to the famous story of the prodigal son, who left and spent his inheritance. When He returned the father poured his favour upon him, which left the other brother jealous.
The Parable of the Lost Son
Luke 15:11-32
Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
“Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.
“The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!
“‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”
This parable is an example of God’s love for you.
You may turn your back on him, feel lost and believe you don’t need Him; however, He is forever with you. Once you surrender to Jesus and are baptized by water and the Holy Spirit, you belong to Him. And God is extremely patient. He waits, knowing the light of the Holy Spirit shines in you regardless of your resistance. He knows the day will come when you’ll need Him.
This happened to me. I walked away from Jesus, as I felt lonely and chose to live life the way I wanted. This choice led me astray for over 30 years, and I believed I’d never return to Him. However, God has a plan, and if you’re a member of His family, He’ll find a way to bring you back to Him.
When you return to Him, the Holy Spirit wakes up from His slumber, on alert to guide you. In my testimony, I mention how He directed me, but lately He speaks to me as a poet. The following scripts are from the Holy Spirit:
“Such beauty my heart can’t escape. Is it in your embrace. All that you created. The sun rays peeking through the wooded greens. The musical notes of nature or the breath you gave me.
You are my love. My light. Nothing will separate me from you, Lord Jesus. You are my everything.
I love you. Where can I find you.
In the whispers of the wind. The sun rays that kiss my cheeks. In the ocean waves or meandering paths. Help me find you. As you are my love. My eternity. The breath of my soul.”
And, as I glanced at the vibrant colors of autumn...
“Painted wonder done with a single breath, a single thought, weaving a mastery of colour, a change of seasons, dying with beauty, only to be reborn.”
This leads me to Song of Solomon 3:4
I have found the One my soul loves.
To have a relationship with Jesus is to have a love affair with God and the Holy Spirit. An unending love that never changes and is consistent. They remain forever yours. Even when you turn away, the Holy Trinity, is with you. When you’re ready to accept this truth, you will be born again into the Holy Spirit.

Blog-Twisted Roots
Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?
As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.
Fine Art Photography
I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!
I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
