Do You Run Away From Love?

You share your heart of love in various ways... spouse, children, parents, siblings, friends, and fur babies. To love is to place your trust in another knowing whatever you do won’t change the way your love family perceives you. It’s a comfort that boasts confidence recognizing your value to others. It’s the motivator to believe in who you are.

This is the key...believing in who you are. That you’re lovable. But for some, this is difficult to accept. They turn and run when the words ‘I love you’ are uttered.

As a Christian for over a year now, I know in my heart, Jesus loves me, as He died for me so I could live.

Yet, when someone new to me says ‘I love you’, it makes me uncomfortable. Even my adorable fur baby, Buddy, his love for me is evident, yet there are days I’m overwhelmed with his love for me.

What makes you run away from love, even from a fur baby?

With fur babies it’s the fear of losing them. A friend admitted to me—she’s afraid to love her pet as someday it’ll die. However, we all die. It’s a cycle of life we prefer to ignore.

I’ve had two fur babies pass away, the most recent was on January 8, 2024, and she was only eight years old. It shatters your heart, as pets love unconditionally. All they want is to be loved and to love you in return. Instead of being fearful of losing them, choose to enjoy each second you spend with them. Build memories you can cherish forever. Don’t waste the short time you have with them, as they love to be loved.

For new acquaintances, the root of discomfort is believing your unlovable. It’s a paradox, especially if you believe the Son of God loves you but find it difficult to accept love from another. This discomfort is derived from past experiences. I won’t go into detail, but I’ve had friends betray me, walk away from the friendship with no explanation, and lie to me. So, when it comes to forming new relationships, I’m open to share but extremely hesitant to accept their love. I have the view where I can love them, but it’s not acceptable for them to love me in return. Pain from relationships create barriers, as you want to protect your tender heart from being broken.

How to overcome this fear?

Think of Jesus’s love for you. What He suffered willingly so if you ask for Him, He’ll answer and bless you head to toe with His love. A love without judgement, pure, and unconditional.

There is no depth of Jesus’s love for you. No matter your fear to accept love in return. His love is unbiased. When you rely on how Jesus loves others, it grants assurance to allow others in. Surrender your fears to Him, and little by little they’ll fade. The fear will be replaced with His peace.

Love transforms people, it makes your step light where you want to dance and leap for joy. It lifts you up, and with Jesus’ love, it will carry you during times of doubt and fear.

Jesus is the wind of comfort.

I recall a moment where I sat waiting for a bus. It was the golden hour. The warm richness of the sun’s rays cast its glorious light across the horizon. A gentle breeze played with my hair, lifting it gently off my shoulders, kissing my shoulder, neck, and cheeks. It was intimate, and I never felt so loved. Jesus was with me then, and has been with me always, waiting to share His love for me. To erase the overwhelm of negative thoughts towards myself. To heal the fear of opening the door of my heart to another, including a pet.

The important fact to remember is love was in you when you took your first breath, blessed by God, our creator. He breathed in love so even as an infant, you’d know love. It’s constant. Consistent. Permanent. A light inside of you, that makes you a part of God. It’s love that tames the wildest of beasts. It’s what makes you rise in the morning knowing you’re blessed with God’s love where each blink captures the beauty He created, as it’s in everyone and everything.

God is LOVE.

Jesus is LOVE.

The Holy Spirit is the guide that leads to their LOVE.

Love borne from the Father, blessed by the Son, and guided by the Holy Spirit. The trinity of love. It’s yours to share freely, without fear, and a grateful heart you have the ability to love. When you rest on these words and believe in them wholeheartedly, how you perceive yourself as unlovable, overtime will change.

God has shown me through His grace that if I seek His face, His voice, spend time learning more about Him from scripture, my worthiness to share and accept love from others will be openly shared without discomfort or the need to run in fear of my heart being broken.

We’re only here a short time. A period to know God’s grace, His love, and the love from His Son. Do you believe you’re a beautiful creation of God and are truly loveable?

I share lyrics from a song written by Phil Wickman and Brandon Lake, titled. ‘Love of God’...

“Though I try, my mind can't comprehend it
It's so high, too marvelous for words
I could sing a million songs about it
And barely scratch the surface of Your worth

This all my life, the banner I'll be waving
My anthem cry no matter what may come
And when I rise to walk the streets of heaven
I'll still be singing this song
For everything that You've done
How great the love of God

Singing Oh, how great is the love of God (how great is Your love)
He paid our debt on that rugged cross (he paid it all for me)
For all our days, we will sing our Savior's praise
How great is the love of God”

The words “I could sing a million songs about it and barely scratch the surface of your worth’’ resonates the enormity of God’s love for you. There is no measure or depth to His love as its endless, eternal, and for you.

Life has it’s struggles. No one is exempt from emotional pain; however, instead of focusing on the hurts in your life, focus on the love. Take the leap to love and receive love, as it’s a gift from God to share without hesitation.

God Bless

Blog-Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
