Has Fear Prevented You From Trusting Others?

I drove to the bank the other day and noticed out of the corner of my eye, a crow, and a gopher. The gopher was standing on two feet defending itself from attacks from the crow. I parked in front of the bank, approached the scene, and shooed the crow away who flew into a nearby tree.

The gopher sat and looked up at me with its large brown eyes. It’s small body shaking, and heartbeat rapid. The poor thing was terrified. My house was kitty corner from the bank, so I quickly ran home to grab an empty plastic flowerpot to put it in and a shovel to safely pick it up. I didn’t want to physically pick it up in case, out of fear, it bit me. When I returned two crows were attacking it. As I came near the crows flew away. The gopher dashed onto a cement step beside the side glass door of the bank. It cowered in a corner. I slowly approached, gently encouraging it to step on top of the shovel. After four attempts I succeeded and cautiously placed it inside the flowerpot. I found a yard with overgrown grass

I write this as the gopher, out of its fearful state, had to trust me. It didn’t know I was trying to save it. It had to take a leap of faith.

It’s the same in life. You can feel cornered where you have no where to turn. Perhaps an abusive partner, no finances to start anew, or job to support the desperate need for change. This was my life. I had to learn to trust. To have faith that God would rescue me. A sinner who chose new age over him as my spiritual path. Yet, when I needed His Son, He rescued me, (my testimony).

Fear can keep you frozen from taking that leap of faith, as it means moving into the unknown. I’ve learned as a Christian that is exactly what God wants you to do. He wants you to trust in His Son, and His plan for you. Each of us has a purpose and God desires to use the gifts He bestowed upon you to teach others to step forward in faith without fear.

Each step with Jesus, you’re blessed with a knowing that everything will be alright. He removes the fear. Like the gopher, you have to make the first move. It’s a difficult decision as the act is to place your trust in a supernatural being you can’t see. However, God’s creation is all around you. It’s in the scent of a lilac, the lark of a songbird, wistful clouds, crimson sunsets, golden sunrises, and in the smile and joy of a newborn. God is everywhere and in everything, as He is our loving creator. He desires the walls of fear to crumble and for you to place your trust in Him.

Over the decades of human evolution trust is now given when earned. Most of you have your guard up from relationships who have betrayed and hurt you. It’s the pain, fear, that binds you to avoid eye contact or reveal anything personal in your life. Although God has given His promise to not be afraid or discouraged, you’re easily convinced by the world to walk away from His promise. Yet, He remains. He never changes. You do.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Fear keeps you trapped. Like the gopher running for safety and then placing himself in further danger, leaving himself vulnerable to attack by not one crow, but two.

Fear can frustrate, misguide, and lead you in a direction that can cause more pain. I’ve lived in a trapped relationship as I didn’t want to leave my house or accept my only option to move from a city I love. Yet, Jesus has blessed me with His peace. I’m now ready, willing, and able to let go and enter a new chapter in my life, knowing God has a plan for me.

The more you place your trust in Him, the more He proves he’s trustworthy. He hears your prayers, although you think He doesn’t. Prayers given to His Son; He receives. What He desires most is for you to spend time with Him. To be in stillness in His word. It’s through scripture, prayer, trust, and faith He transforms your heart.

I know there are different levels of fear...abandonment, severe trauma, rejection, betrayal, abuse. However, these events are not caused by God, as His Kingdom is one of peace, love, and grace. It’s easy to blame God for fear in your life, as you refuse to acknowledge the truth that it’s the devil. He’s the one who creates fear so he can keep you trapped in darkness. He will do everything in his power to ensure you don’t run to the light. That you won’t utter the words, “Jesus, help me.” As when you do, Jesus will rescue you, this I can promise. For He comes to all who call His name.

When you rely on Jesus, He will give you rest from the negative self-destructive thoughts that feed your fear. As well as thoughts running against the wind with assumptions that leave you trusting less and less. When you focus on Jesus and His word, He will heal the runaway thoughts as your soul receives fulfillment in His grace.

It’s a beautiful miraculous gift as He moves in your life, as He is the living water that flows through your soul, nurturing the wounds, uncertainties, and assumptions that lead to false beliefs.

Yes, there is a price—sacrifice your old self and allow a new version to unfold, petal by petal through His healing.

It’s a choice worth fighting for, as you deserve to be blessed with peace in your heart.

To live a life in fear without trust, is not living. It keeps you frozen, stagnant, and prevents you from being the beautiful creation God created. Have faith that He is there to pick you up and guide you to safety. Trust. Believe. And your fears will be healed.

God Bless,

Blog-Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
