What is Wisdom?

When I mention the word wisdom, who do you think of? Isaac Newton? Albert Einstein? Stephen Hawking?

All of the aforementioned are genius and changed the world with their theories and applications. But what are the traits of true wisdom? Is it easy comprehension? Exceptional intellect? Creativity? The intense desire to experiment with an unquenchable thirst, to never give up.

I always held intelligent people in high respect; however, in an unhealthy way, as I felt intimated by their intellect. This leads to my Aunt. Her spouse was a professor at university. When they held gatherings, she felt uncomfortable socializing as the discussions were beyond her understanding and vocabulary. She took it upon herself to learn a difficult word in the dictionary every day, to equip her for the next gathering. This expanded her confidence and opened the door to verbalize her opinions with intelligence.

This is the ingredient for wisdom. To educate yourself, learn, grow and expand your world.

Knowledge is a precious gift. A recipe to broaden your goals and aspirations with confidence.

What I find interesting, is how often ‘wisdom’ is referenced in scripture. Its definition is a reflection to learn upon.

Proverbs 3:19-22

The Lord founded the earth by wisdom, He established the heavens by understanding. By His knowledge the ocean depths were burst open, and the clouds drip with dew. My son, see that they do not escape from your sight; comply with sound wisdom and discretion, and they will be life to your soul, and adornment to your neck.

In this Proverb, the Prophet Solomon is teaching his son how God in His infinite wisdom created the heavens, the depths of the ocean and dew from the clouds. To remember this truth in his soul as it will equip him to recognize who he is, and connect him to the knowledge of God, which is in everything.

Solomon further exalts wisdom in these Proverbs.

Proverbs 4:7-9

The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; and with all your possessions, acquire understanding. Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a garland of grace; she will present you with a crown of beauty.

Proverbs 7:4-5

Say to wisdom, “you are my sister,” and call understanding your intimate friend...

Wisdom is to be embraced, as it nurtures your heart, mind and soul. It provides you with essential tools to fulfil and live your purpose. It settles a wandering heart and straightens your path with determination to learn more.

Proverbs 1:20-22

Wisdom shouts in the street, she raises her voice in the public square; At the head of the noisy streets, she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city she declares her sayings:

“How long, you naive ones, will you love simplistic thinking? And how long will scoffers delight themselves in scoffing, and fools hate knowledge?

God created your mind to explore, expand and be equipped so in any given scenario you’re prepared. Without knowledge, you become an easy target to be manipulated by the true enemy, Satan.

Proverbs 9:4-5

To him who lacks understanding she says, “Come, eat of my food And drink of the wine I have mixed...

The intoxication of riches and self-pleasure is easy to fall prey to, a trick to believe—if you indulge, you’ll feel important and accepted.

However, to truly understand wisdom is to begin with fear of the Lord.

Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

When you have this understanding in your heart, you’re blessed with...

Proverbs 20:15

There is gold, and an abundance of jewels; But lips of knowledge are a more precious thing.

Proverbs 31:25-26

Strength and dignity are her clothing; And she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

The flip side is ignorance and has consequences.

Proverbs 1:27-29

When your dread comes like a storm, and your disaster comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me, because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord.

The dictionary describes a wise person as someone who possesses discernment, using life experiences to make sound decisions with insight and compassion towards others, such as King Solomon, Moses, Jeremiah, Isaiah, but their discernment and judgment came from the fear and blessings of God, as they were chosen as Prophets to deliver wise advice to all who are called to serve Him.

God desires for you to listen and learn with an open heart. To study the word, as it’s a living document. The written word has the power to change you instantly if you read from a place of fear in the Lord and a willingness to gain wisdom. It’s a process of learning the nature of God, all He created, endured, requested, and sacrificed for you, as He loves you.

By knowing the word of God, it provides you with knowledge to minister to others with confidence and overcome Satan’s relentless battle to turn you and others away from God. It’s God’s method of communication. As you read and learn His ways, spend time meditating on the word, open your heart to His guidance, you’ll be equipped to stay focused on the path laid out for you. It’s a relationship where He is bound to you and grows in strength when you understand His immense love for you. His word will fill your heart. The wisdom will be unquestionable for it will be communicated through the Holy Spirit who only speaks truth.

In summary, there are numerous people, as aforementioned, born with a high intellect. Some of these people are historical figures, or people capable of maneuvering and calculating strategies above the average person and possess positions in NASA or other government agencies or are successful entrepreneurs. However, brain intelligence vs. scripture intelligence have two different outcomes. One can produce technical advances and human evolution, the other advances you in the word of God, preparing you as a warrior for God to the ongoing chess game between Satan and your soul.

As with all things, it’s important to search for the truth. Lee Strobel, a famous American author who was an investigative journalist, sought the truth. An atheist, determined to discredit the Bible and Jesus, after his wife converted to Christianity. He conducted numerous interviews, and in the end, he surrendered to God, saying “you win.” God did win, as Lee converted, wrote numerous books, and is now a teaching pastor at Woodlands Church in Texas. The point, he investigated and researched to gain the knowledge to form an opinion based on fact. What he gained was spiritual wisdom, a wisdom that cannot be denied, taken away, and has stood the test of time. A wisdom that reveals God’s authority and compassion for your creation. A creation where He sacrificed His one and only Son, so you can choose to be redeemed, reborn, and resurrected through Jesus with renewed purpose based on clarity and wisdom.

Satan will blind you from this truth. He will do whatever he can to persuade you there is no God, and Jesus was not the Son of God. He will harden your heart, build walls of resistance, so you continue to walk life in a blindfold, like a fool. He’ll convince you of other powers, evident in new age where the universe has the power and wisdom to elevate your life. A lie I lived for six years (my testimony).

It's with spiritual wisdom you learn discernment, truth, so you can be elevated to the Kingdom of Heaven.

In summary, be wise in your decisions, learn the truth by questioning and researching so you can make decisions based on fact and spiritual wisdom.

To help you in your journey, I created a Prayer Journal, to build a closer bond with Christ Jesus.

As you grow in your faith and wisdom, it’s important to dedicate time with God in prayer, a quiet space to meet and invite Him into your daily thoughts. In doing so, you will experience His peace and wisdom in every aspect of your life.

The journal is in a digital format where you can print numerous copies of each page. The design is based on a variety of different formats to enhance your relationship and prayer time with Christ Jesus.

Prayer is powerful, intimate, and personal. A petition to our Heavenly Father to intercede on behalf of others. Mostly, it’s communicating and expressing with heart felt passion, to a God who sacrificed everything to break the curse of sin that separated you from Him. He desires to hear your words, be in His presence, and learn to love Him more and more.

The Prayer Journal is available as a digital download at my ETSY Store, Archway Designs by CFC Studios.

Blog-Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
