Seasons of Time

What speaks to you the most...

  • A time to be born and a time to die

  • A time to plant and a time to uproot

  • A time to tear down and a time to build

  • A time to weep and a time to laugh

  • A time to mourn and a time to dance

  • A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them

  • A time to embrace and a time to refrain

  • A time to search and a time to give up

  • A time to tear and a time to mend

  • A time to be silent and a time to speak

This scripture from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 identifies the seasons of time you experience in life, more so, your emotional self. Based on stages you encounter with an approach to heal your heart, and discernment to make wise decisions.

The words that spoke to me the most is...

A time to tear and a time to mend

These words in scripture sang to my soul after we lost our fur baby to cancer on Jan. 8, 2024. Our cat, Sammy, was diagnosed with a tumour in September 2023. We took all the steps to heal her, but over Christmas she became ill. I prayed for her discomfort to be healed. A few days later, she was moving around and eating. I was so grateful. But her condition worsened. Thirteen days later, we had no choice but to put her down. However, those extra thirteen days of seeing her play, enjoy the crisp outdoor air she loved, was precious.

God was speaking to me through these words, acknowledging my need to tear, and allow my heart to mend.

Seasons in time are designed to gain wisdom, nurture a broken heart, embrace joy, or celebrate God’s miracles.

The following are thoughts on how this scripture may relate to God’s purpose in your life.

A time to be born and a time to die

You celebrate new life and mourn the loss of loved ones. It’s an ongoing cycle of pain and joy. At this moment, many are celebrating new life, while others are shedding tears over the loss of a loved one. Life is fragile. It’s everything in between that gives us the timing of precious moments and prepares us for the next stage in our life.

God knows your pain and miraculously gives you moments that imprint memories. Although painful, overtime, they bring a smile.

A time to plant and a time to uproot

New beginnings, like a seed planted, can grow into a career you always dreamed of or an opportunity that leads to a path where you shine as God sees you. However, when seeds don’t grow, it’s a sign to re-evaluate as it may be a distraction from God’s plan for you.

A time to tear down and a time to build

There are numerous times in life where you’re frustrated. Decisions that led to a dead end then faced with another, leaving you drained and unfulfilled.

It’s easy to get lost in a never-ending cycle, as you believe your efforts will make a difference. Sadly, it won’t.

God knows what is best for you. If you continue to move backwards instead of forward, it’s time to see the truth, walk away, and leave the past behind you. Don’t stay in a situation where joy and hope are a distant memory. Take the courageous step to build anew a life where love reigns.

A time to weep and a time to laugh

Many scenarios play out that bring tears. Losing a job, breakup, divorce, rejection, betrayal. These painful moments build strength in character. It teaches you to take a firm stance on what you’ll tolerate and accept in your life. This choice invites laughter and peace as you celebrate the victory of staying true to how God sees you.

A time to mourn and a time to dance

Do you take the time to mourn? Some people run away from accepting emotional pain as they don’t want to crumble and fall apart. But if you want to dance and celebrate the joys in life, you need to release the tears preventing you from being the beautiful person God created, so you can heal.

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them

Sometimes you’re faced with many decisions. It can overwhelm where you choose to procrastinate and ignore making that final decision.

God works in wondrous ways. He speaks to you through advice from friends and family to help narrow options. This allows you to gather what’s left, meditate how to best serve God, now and in the future.

A time to search and a time to give up

There are moments where you seek answers to questions that keep you awake at night.

It’s answers that build wisdom and guide you to your purpose. But if you repeatedly knock at the door and there’s no answer, it’s time to give up. God is revealing your futility and His intentions for you to search elsewhere.

A time to be silent and a time to speak

It’s in silence you show friendship, love, by listening to a friend or family member.

A time God can speak to you, as you meditate on his Word.

To uphold confidence and be trustworthy.

To speak from the heart without judgement, criticism, but with kindness and understanding.

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

At this moment, you may be experiencing what you don’t want, however, God has a beautiful way of presenting the perfect time that brings peace and understanding for the cycles you endure.

Blog - Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
