Why Did God Create Evil?

Why did God create evil? This was a question asked to a university Professor who responded that “if God created everything, then God created evil, since it exists.”

A student in the class challenged this question by asking the Professor if cold is a thing. The Professor responded “yes”. The student counteracted saying cold doesn’t exist and explained—according to the laws of physics, cold is the absence of heat. A person or object can be studied on whether it has or transmits energy. Absolute zero being -460 degrees Fahrenheit, is a complete absence of heat.

The student rose another question, and asked if darkness exists wherein the Professor responded, “of course.” “Wrong again,” replied the student. “Light can be studied but not darkness. A ray of light can illuminate a dark space, but the darkness can’t be measured, as it’s the absence of light.”

The last question asked—does evil exists. The Professor responded adamantly referring to his previous answer and elaborated; evil is seen every day in numerous crimes and violence in the world. The student answered—evil does not exist; it’s simply the absence of Divine love in the human heart. It’s the cold that comes where there is no heat, or the darkness that comes with no light. The student’s name was Albert Einstein.

I pulled this content from a social media post as it’s a great explanation on whether evil exists and if God is its creator. Many people blame God for the wickedness in the world and question why He doesn’t fix it. However, the ingredient missed is God is the creator of life. He radiates and embodies love. He cannot be in the presence of sin. Hence the need for His people to sacrifice and cleanse themselves of sin before standing in His presence. God is just. When you’re in pain and suffering, He weeps with you, as this life isn’t what He intended. His plan was for you to walk in the gardens of Heaven, to rule over all creatures and live in peace. But one act of sin, swung the pendulum in a different direction.

It was the act of disobedience—falling into temptation that initiated a different realm, you being separated from God. Throughout scripture God’s judgement is shown on those who break away from His instruction, led by their sinful nature.

When you view the heart of God in Israel, the promised land of His people, it’s been ravaged by war for centuries. Like a dog who returns to its vomit, sin repeats itself (Proverbs 26:11), hungry for selfish gratification no matter God’s warning. Take King Solomon, King David’s son, who ruled after He passed.

When God asked King Solomon what He wanted, He asked for wisdom. He was known by many for His wisdom, the author of Proverbs, as a builder, and was wealthy. He built the altar to worship God. An altar made of gold.

Although He was anointed and blessed by God, He fell into ruin. He had 700 wives, and 300 concubines. His fall into sin was marrying Hittite women, where God in Deuteronomy 7:1-5 states, ‘His people should not enter into any alliances with the people of Canaan, including, the Hittites’. King Solomon broke this rule and allowed his Hittite wives to worship their gods. He built golden idols of their gods to appease them, a further act of dishonoring God’s commandments.

The point, we’re fallible when tempted. You can have everything but when you break into darkness, you fall from grace.

However, God, although just, is merciful. He knows your heart and doesn’t interfere with your will. You decide whether to adhere to His commandments. But like any Father, there are consequences. It’s true, life is a testing ground. Humanity has a choice to follow Jesus’s commandments:

Matthew 22:37

Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

John 13:34:

Jesus says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

The goal of a follower of Jesus is to hold these commandments in your heart. However, Satan is forever present to ensure you fail. Just like King Solomon and many of God’s people.

John 10:10

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it to the full."

So, when you speak of evil and its creation. It’s borne by the rebellion of Lucifer and his desire to rule over God.

God cast him out of Heaven together with his followers. He is the darkness in Albert Einstein’s answer, devoid of light and God’s divine love. A supernatural being whose sole purpose is to destroy God’s creations—you.

His actions are in the violence of the world. The unfair justice. He wraps around you convincing you to fall into temptation and fulfill your selfish desires. As Christians, we’re not exempt from his attacks and fall prey to it every day. However, to be saved from this evil is to repent and invite Jesus into your heart, as only Jesus can cast away the darkness.

John 8:12:

Jesus declares, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

It’s in His light, grace, and forgiveness, you are saved. However, if you act against God’s commandments the consequences are severe:

Matthew 13:41-42

“The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Mark 9:43

“And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to hell, to the unquenchable fire.”

The truth, we live in a world of spiritual warfare, and things are progressively changing. When I read of injustice, wars, gender ideology, prosecution, natural disasters, the birthing pains are getting stronger—the return of the King of Kings is on the horizon.

The question to ask yourself—are you prepared?

There is no doubt people search for answers to heal the emptiness in their heart, to ease pain that never ceases. However, these searches can lead to unfulfilling promises if it isn’t grounded in Jesus, the redeemer.

As a prior new ager, I believed the universe could make me whole. That I could transform my heart on my own, view everything through a lens of love and joy, heal myself through meditation and gratitude lists to keep me grounded. There are numerous life coaches, authors, speakers, mediums, who will convince you that through loving yourself you can manifest a life of abundance, a life where joy reigns. It’d be wonderful if you could breeze through life with this philosophy, sadly, the only thing it does, is take you away from God because you believe you can do everything on your own and/or through the help of the universe.

There is an author / speaker whose entire coaching is to trust in the universe as the provider of all. This author went as far as creating a book with pages similar to that of the Bible, same delicate thin paper with an impressive black leather cover. This book promotes self-awareness, daily dedication to the universe and manifesting a life of true happiness and abundance.

The hard truth, it’s a book that teaches you to believe you’re in charge of your own destiny. That the design of your life is in the palm of your hand and not with God, who knitted you in your mother’s womb.

New age easily leads you astray with its false promises and hooks you as the practices deliver change, but it will not save your soul. In truth, it will lead you into darkness. Read my blog “8 Seconds to Change your Life” which includes a story of a new ager attacked by demons who was turning to Christianity, and my testimony.

Life will have challenges; it will test and place you in situations where your given a choice—to lean on God when you’re weary or yourself.

I recently attended an event hosted by Mountain Springs Calvary Chapel for Amir Tsarfati, founder of Behold Israel, who speaks on God’s written word and the truth of current events in Israel. He spoke of the rapture:

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

Luke 17:34-37

“I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”

Matthew 24:30-31

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”

A movie titled, “Left Behind”, is about the rapture where millions of people vanish at once. However, Amir’s interpretation is based on believers being taken and that it won’t be as catastrophic as the movie. There are millions of Christians and 7 billion people living on earth. The event will be newsworthy but, in some countries, it won’t even be noticed.

It's a sad truth as persecution against Christians is growing. In Canada, one of its media chains wrote about an American Christian musician and founder of “Let Us Worship”, Sean Feucht, whose revival tour drew cancellations citing security concerns based on prior vocal statements on woke ideology. However, the tour was meant to bring Christians together to celebrate and worship, not a political beacon the media has led people to believe. Yet, there was no reporting about the Canadian tour titled, “End of Times,” of a Salafi preacher who demonizes Western ideals and Christianity.

A sign of cultural idealism shifting.

Did God set the wheels in motion?

When Jesus walked the earth, the Pharisees, teachers of the Old Testament, that prophesied Jesus’s birth and resurrection, didn’t recognize Jesus as the Messiah. God hardened their hearts so the sacrifice of His Son would proceed. Jesus’s sacrifice tore the veil that separated us from God. With the veil torn, you have the opportunity to be under God’s grace, receive salvation if you choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

In comparison, when you read the Book of Revelations it’s God’s plan to remove the world of the wicked. Will hearts be hardened? I don’t have the answer. What I do know is that God follows through on His promises. Everything happens according to God’s will.

Amir mentioned in his speech that a number of events have aligned with scripture and that we’re living in end times. For Christians it’s a time to rejoice, as we eagerly wait for His return.

Psalm 27:14

Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.

We’re in a time where we’ll be tested, as things are going to get worse. However, to be prepared and filled with the peace of the Lord, you need to decide to give your life to Jesus and as Christians, prayer, studying the word, worship, and caring for others will set your path straight.

Prayer is the main ingredient to keep you focused and on track with God’s plan for you. If Prayer is new to you or you need help with developing a schedule to spend time with God, I created a Prayer Journal. A tool to build your relationship in Christ Jesus. Personally, it has been essential in my growth as the words of encouragement from the Holy Spirit have been uplifting and transformative. It’s taught me how God wants His children to trust in Him and that He loves us.

It’s available as a digital download where you can print as many copies of each section as you need them. It also includes a FREEBIE, “Weapons of Scripture”, to help when you have runaway thoughts such as believing you’re unworthy or unloved, lies planted by the enemy to distract you from your faith journey. It’s a list with corresponding scripture to memorize and battle these thoughts with truth.

In closing, I pray if you’re unsure which path to take, speak to a Pastor for clarification, learn about Jesus, His forgiveness and love for you or watch the Alpha Film series that teaches the basics of Christian Faith.

Once you give your life to the Lord, no one can take you away from Him. He will always be there for you, to celebrate your laughter, to wipe away your tears, and hold you when you feel alone. In Him and through Him your sins are forgiven, and life is renewed. The old you will fade away and a new you will be born—forgiven of your sins and awakened with a new purpose.

Jesus is creating His flock in preparation of His return, which could be today, tomorrow, next month. If you’re not prepared, you’ll be left behind to face an unfamiliar world. A world torn down by corruption, despair, desolation and destruction.

God sent His angels to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. He destroyed the world with 40 days and nights of rain because of the wickedness of humanity. Today, things are worse than the times of those two separate events.

God has been extremely patient, waiting in the sidelines with hope you’ll make the choice to return to Him. However, the time is near where His patience is waning. No one knows the day or time, only God knows, and many believe it’ll happen soon.

How will you choose to be prepared?

God Bless,

Blog-Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination. It also highlights other areas to inspire and encourage Christians in their walk of faith.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal. When the opportunity presented itself, I knew it was time to fulfill my dream.

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or fine art available for wall décor.

Prayer Journals

Prayer is powerful, intimate, and personal. It’s also a petition to our Heavenly Father to intercede on behalf of others. Mostly, it’s communicating and expressing with heart felt passion, to a God who sacrificed everything to break the curse of sin that separated you from Him. He desires to hear your words, be in His presence, and learn to love Him more and more.
