Why Seek Witchcraft and Mediums for advice?

Isaiah 8:19 says, “When someone tells you to consult mediums and spirits, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?

Mediumship, witchcraft, can be intriguing, as it draws you into a magical world, and who doesn’t want to know their future? I was always drawn to palm readers, tarot card readers and mediums as I desired to know the outcome of my life. The answers to lingering questions...will I live an abundant life, will there be a magical treasure or event to rescue me from the unhappiness in my life. I used it for advice and counselling, as I was desperate and needed answers. But most of all, I wanted to hear that my life would be joyful and happy.

Mediums and card readers were consistent in providing answers that left me satisfied. It was a resource I used for many years, and, more so, when I became involved in new age. It was less expensive than seeing a professional counsellor and the details were accurate. In truth, it gave me comfort and confidence in the direction of my life.

However, when you look at scripture on mediums and witchcraft...

Scripture is very clear on how the Lord views mediumship and witchcraft.

You can’t deny the existence of mediums; however, the question to ask, “where did they get this gift? Is it a gift from God?” If it was, they’d be prophets prophesizing the word of God, which they don’t. Most don’t believe in God, organized religion or have a distaste for religion based on past treatment of women accused of witchcraft. No doubt innocent women were wrongly accused and the treatment of those who practice the craft was horrible. However, scripture is based on the word of God.

God hates idol worshippers or anyone who places themselves above Him.

These practices are a clever method to trick you into believing it’ll solve your problems. However, it’s a guise of Satan that leads to emptiness.

Satan wants you to lack trust in God. To place blame on others for the unhappiness in your life and turn away from a loving God, who created all life. It’s like a chess game with Satan as the playing board, creating one scenario after another, fueling division to seek alternate methods for peace. And witchcraft and mediums are the perfect distraction from you seeking the one who has the ability to heal you from inequities in your life. The one person who can forgive you for your sins no matter how horrible—Christ Jesus.

To seek mystical answers for direction and advice will never fulfill you. I know, as I had oracle cards—twelve decks. I had a spiritual coach and medium I contracted for spiritual advice. Afterwards, I’d have a sense of relief, but it was like loose threads, never completely sown together to create a lasting remedy.

The only path that led to fulfilling my soul with peace was Jesus.

In Him is a new beginning, as the old washes away and you’re blessed with a clean slate.

However, it doesn’t mean your above others. It does mean that through Jesus you’re blessed with His salvation and His truth to be forever forgiven for your sins, as long as you forgive those who hurt you. At times, this can be difficult. However, in Him and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit there is always a way, as Jesus remains consistent, He never changes. We change. Circumstances in life can lead you down a rabbit hole of despair. You may drift and seek alternate means such as a medium or witchcraft for solutions and answers. However, Jesus is with you, as He’s in you. It’s you that put up walls of resistance, especially when life seems unfair. In this state, fear and worry take over and your thoughts turn against you.

It’s the worry and fear that lead you to seek answers, as you desperately desire direction in your life. At this point, mediums, spiritual coaches, and witchcraft shine as they provide answers your heart desires to hear. But these answers don’t bear fruit. They lead to empty promises built on a foundation of lies.

Jesus desires to help those who are broken, as He can fulfill you.

I was reminded today of the importance of this scripture. Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened, as He will give you rest.

  • Rest from the heaviness that consumes your heart.

  • Rest from the worry that overwhelms the mind.

  • Rest from fear that keeps you frozen.

It’s in the midst of wallowing in self-pity we forget Jesus’ invitation to seek His peace. He desires you to know His peace. His love for you. To place your trust in Him. To turn away from seeking mystical practices and choose Him.

Contemplate this verse. God made Him who had no sin. Imagine being pure, without flaws, and then becoming a man where sin and temptation is everywhere. How easily would you be tempted in this new version of yourself?

One of Jesus’s first acts after being baptized was walking in the dessert for 40 days and nights, tempted by Satan. Each temptation thrown at Him was answered with scripture. He remained true, even though He was thirsty and hungry. For most of us, we’d succumb just to get a glass of water in an environment suffocated by heat. Yet Jesus persevered, He didn’t falter.

Jesus had to show His ability to overcome sin, as He was born without sin. He had to succeed. Yet, when He willingly allowed Himself to be sacrificed, He took upon all our sins. Imagine the heaviness He bore in His heart as He was nailed on the cross, carrying our selfish impulses and desires.

We’re tempted every minute in our lives. It’s the motivator for action to satisfy our need for answers. For some, they’ll do whatever to meet the hunger in their heart for more. But more of what? Money. Power. It’s the ingredient that drives many to commit sinful acts to fatten their bank account. And where mediums play a role with predictions that you’ll have an abundant life.

It's in this veil of disguise your priorities get scrambled, and you end up on a road of dissatisfaction, remorse, and guilt. A road where your heart becomes empty consumed with a longing to know what direction to take.

It’s the cruelty of the world and Satan’s game to make you believe you don’t need God, as your questions can be answered from a medium or with witchcraft.

Overall, what you need is to feel loved and appreciated for who you are.

Jeremiah 31:3

I have loved you with an everlasting love

Jesus loves you. He sees the real you—your sinful nature, and still loves you. There is no other like Him. He waits for you to invite Him into your life so He can bless you with the Holy Spirit. A guide from God who provides direction based on truth, not from a medium who delivers empty promises for a fee. Will you choose Jesus, or the advice from a medium?

The choice is in you to make.

God Bless

Blog-Twisted Roots

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
