We travel Alberta and British Columbia quite often, and I’m always looking for photo opportunities.
Many times, I see possibilities of perfect compositions and lighting, but there is nowhere to pull over to get out of the vehicle to capture the shot.
This day was an exception.
I noticed this abandoned farmhouse and nearly gave my husband a heart attack as I yelled at him to stop the car.
He managed to find a place where he could turn around, and, thankfully, find a place where he could safely pull over. I jumped out of the car, practically ran to the site, in anticipation of getting the shot.
It’s one of my favorites. I’ve always wanted an image of an abandoned building in fall. Now I do, and it’s hanging in our home.
Today, the roof of the building has collapsed, and the water level of the pond has dropped. It’s amazing how time can change something that was once so beautiful.
