DAISY BLUE
I’m going to break down and admit that I began my passion for photography with film. That’s right...the olden days.
What I loved about film, was the color saturation you’d get from slide film. The color was rich and vibrant. Plus, you could sandwich slides together to create impressions that were so awesome, a feature, I absolutely loved playing with.
When I changed to digital, I wanted to re-create that artistic look, which I accomplished with multiple exposures and named, dreamArt series. This image was the inspiration of that series.
I recall the day I took the shot. The warmth of the sun as we stopped to picnic at a table beside the river. It was a vacation where we had no agenda. A time where there was no stress, and no rush to get anywhere.
We approached the picnic table with our cooler. My camera hung around my neck, when I noticed carved initials and daisies placed in between the wooden slats of the table.
I thought, how awesome it’d be to sandwich the images together, where you place one slide behind another and put together in the same holder to create one slide. I was very excited with the outcome. However, creating the same look with digital was a little trickier. I admit, I’m not a great tech person, but I forced myself to figure out a way to photograph multiple images. At first, I was frustrated, but as I read my instructional manual for my Nikon D3, I figured it out and began to play. The result was 16 unique fine art images.
Sometimes you need to take the leap and follow your intuition.
