2 Reasons to be aware about Worshipping Angels

As a reformed new ager, I believed I was doing good. I celebrated the signs I’d see, believing I was guided by the universe and surrounded by angels.

I was so excited to learn more, I signed up for courses on how to connect with archangels and angels, the most powerful being, Archangel Michael. In new age, 13 archangels are recognized to provide spiritual growth and healing.

In one course, the teacher had stories on how seven archangels helped her overcome difficult events in her life, and that she’d seen them. But to receive this guidance you had to invoke or invite them into your life. A practice where you need to be cautious, as what you’re inviting in, may not be what you hoped for.

In scripture, there are close to 300 references of ‘angels of God’. But overall, there are only four names given, Gabriel, Archangel Michael, Lucifer, and Abaddon.

The angel Gabriel is the angel who appeared twice to the prophet Daniel, the priest Zechariah, and Mary, bringing news of good tidings. Zechariah, the father-to-be of John, the Baptist, and Mary, the mother-to-be of Jesus, the Messiah.

Archangel Michael appears four times in scripture and is referenced as a chief prince and a protector of God’s people. In Revelation 12:7, he fights against the dragon with his army of angels. He is mentioned in Daniel chapter 10 and 12 and in Jude 1:9 as one who engages in heavenly warfare.

The angel Lucifer we know as the devil and Satan. Given temporary reign over the world masquerading as an angel of light. He is the father of lies.

Abaddon is only mentioned once in Revelations and is known as a fallen angel and destroyer.

There are no other names of angels written in scripture.

New age will lead you to believe in the angels I referenced above, and how they’ll help you with forgiveness, wisdom, healing, and love, to name a few.

But these angels do not heal.

Reason one why you shouldn’t be worshipping angels...

Revelation 22:8-9

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me. “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”

As a new ager, the thought of being surrounded by angels was a dream come true. As a child, I lived in a world of fantasy and desperately wanted to believe in mystery and magic. So, seeing angel signs such as feathers, dimes, repetitive numbers, orbs of light, to name a few, lit me up.

But angels don’t leave signs, and don’t want to be worshipped. They don’t possess authority or power over your well-being or emotional state. The only way to be healed and saved is through Jesus Christ.

When you are saved....

Luke 15:10

I tell you there is rejoicing in the presence of angels of God over one sinner who repents.

The heavens celebrate this victory as so many are trapped under a spell of deceit. New age points you away from true salvation by focusing on self-love and that you are in control of your own destiny. It makes you believe you’re doing good when you’re not.

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”

Our purpose is to learn about God through the gospel and be saved by his son, Jesus Christ. As the only way to get to the Father is through the Son.

John 14:6

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

It’s not to glorify our feelings, desires, and believe we can manifest our path through guidance of angels, or other modalities related to new age, such as vision boards, manifesting rituals, and visualization meditations.

Granted, these modalities may work if you believe, as spiritual coaches and manifesting teachers have attested to this fact. But this path leads you away from salvation making you believe you can save yourself, which is untrue.

Reason two to be aware when you believe in healing from angels...

I know it’s easy to get excited about seeing signs, believing angels can heal, as opposed to the one and true healer, Christ Jesus, because I’ve been there. I was excited to believe in this reality, telling everyone I was spiritual, but that spiritual path had nothing to do with God. It was the complete opposite and exactly what the devil wants you to believe.

But you are given the choice to accept this truth or turn your cheek and walk the other way.

Life is a test and can be a testament of a life lived where you have no regrets and believe with your heart you made the right choice. However, what needs to be remembered that many forget, is that Jesus holds the keys to Heaven and Hell. He will judge the living and the dead. The only way to get into Heaven is through Jesus. But if you don’t believe He existed, you have the choice to carry on as you always have.

I was saved by Christ Jesus, a wretched soul. A backslider who once had a close relationship with Him and walked away. A sinner who worshipped angels and believed the universe was my salvation. But I was deceived.

God gave us the power of free will to allow Him into your heart or follow angels that are not what you think.

How will you choose?

Do you find yourself asking questions about new age, whether the practices and beliefs are leading your soul to redemption?

As a reformed new ager, I was saturated in the belief I could co-create with the universe and manifest a life of abundance. But I was deceived. This blog is to point you to the truth of God’s words and how He perceives the new age indoctrination.

Fine Art Photography

I always dreamed of being a professional photographer when I grew up. It was a journey to reach this goal, but I did it!

I owned a home-based studio for over a decade but have been shooting images for two decades. Now, semi-retired, I have a collection of my most cherished images of landscape or nature available for wall décor.
